March is the end of quarter and the birthday month for both of us. Well, quarter is just a side effect after I been in the corporates for too long~ Usually I will be wrapping up my performance review and tell stories to bosses before I take my quarterly one week leave. This year is a little… While boss academic supervisor didn’t ask for performance review update, I didn’t quite made it to the expected progress. Was distracted by AI gems (Thanks Google for making them so available since Manus debut). Therefore, no holiday.

🍰His birthday come first and it’s a Wednesday. We had a little miscommunication in if we are celebrating on that day, and when he came back late seeing me also worked late and just about to cook, he gets unhappy.

No worries, I am a big big girl with big heart: I share my birthday with him on my birthday and give him a 3-tier chocolate~~ 🍫 I secretly hope that we can don’t buy chocolate for the rest of the year, those are quite a lot! He makes siuyok as my birthday cake (It was quite a trend in Malaysia).  I told him I work hard for a good birthday: I bought the pork belly so that I have the siuyok birthday cake. He could have it on his birthday too. 😗

The best thing about being in Japan is al will always have birthday with Sakura! I did manage to walk out a lot, and I get to see the budding to flowers to some of the green leaves. We also manage to cook stuff at home. Things kind of settle down as I in charge of the kitchen on week days and him on weekend. Hence, all the fancy food is on weekend~ He made clay pot chicken rice without clay pot, some nice steak with soup, etc.

My weekdays in kitchen does not get fancy. We were both being too busy at work and study, dinner is often skipped or dine out if I walked out.

  • The memorable 500g pasta makes me full for a whole day and in need to exercise carrying stuff from Costco.
  • New discovery that Ritz crackers actually go well with potato salad.
  • Korean toufu kimchi soup with bibimbap is something I really want to try again.

We still keep one weekend dinner at the nearby restaurant and we found 2 sushi place, both taste good! We prefer the older shop because a little cheaper, more option, and we will pass by a healthy fluffy Samoyed 🐶 as we walk to the shop. It just made our day!

Quite sad that the Malaysian’s hanami BBQ picnic was cancelled due to rain. I even bought more junk food to bring along!
